What Happened In The National League North On Saturday?

By Sam Elliott

Pressure was applied at the top of the National League North on Saturday - and at the bottom.

Leaders York City would have noted the results as their advantage was cut.

Chester were emphatic in their day’s work. They breezed past Alfreton 3-0, Simon Grand helped them on their way 35 minutes it. It was 2-0 when Danny Livesey pounced just after half time.

The game was up for the Reds when Danny Elliott added a deserved third.

King’s Lynn upped the heat with another win as Bradford PA had no answer.

They quickly forgot being stuck in heavy traffic as they ran out 3-2 winners in very testing circumstances. Two-goal Adam Marriott was the Linnets’ hero.

At the other end of the table, Paul Cox’s influence is already being felt at Kettering.

Another win, this time at play-off placed Guiseley, moves the Poppies up to 19th.

Southport’s great recent run came to an end.

They couldn’t make it four wins in a row as they slipped to defeat at Spennymoor Town.

The Moors are now fifth in the table thanks to Glen Taylor’s second half winner.

Curzon Ashton fans can thank Andy Hall for a super Saturday night.

He hit the winners in their 2-1 victory over AFC Telford. They are now out of the relegation places.

Meanwhile Gloucester City came from being to draw 1-1 at play-off chasing Farsley Celtic.
