What Happened In The National League North On Saturday?

By Tom Scott

It might not officially be Bonfire Night until Tuesday but we had early fireworks in the MANarama National League North this afternoon.

Paul Cox got off to the perfect start on his Kettering Town return as the Poppies piled on the misery for Bradford (Park Avenue).

Lindon Meikle opened the scoring before Connor Kennedy, Ben Milnes and Aaron O'Connor added three more to lift the early strugglers out of the bottom two.

At the other end, the top two had to settle for a point each - York were pegged back late on by Kidderminster's Ashley Hemmings while Chester led against Brackley before Thierry Audel equalised.

A ten-minute hat-trick from Boston's Jordan Thewlis saw the Pilgrims come away from AFC Telford with a fine win.

Guiseley survived a late scare against Gateshead to edge their five-goal thriller at the International Stadium - Aaron Martin netting his 15th league goal of the campaign.

Blyth Spartans made it five home games without defeat with a stunning win over Farsley Celtic - Robbie Dale and Callum Roberts striking in the second-half.

Spennymoor Town continued their march with a brace from Rob Ramshaw seeing them past Alfreton Town.

A hat-trick from skipper David Morgan was the icing on the cake for Southport who hit Leamington for four.

Goalless at the break but it finished two apiece between King's Lynn and Altrincham - Adam Marriott's brace for the Linnets cancelled out by goals from Josh Hancock and James Jones in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

Elsewhere, Hereford played for over an hour with ten men but managed to take a point from their trip to Darlington while a second-half equaliser from Marlon Jackson rescued a point for Gloucester against Curzon Ashton.

AFC Telford 1-3 Boston
