What Happened Across The National League On Boxing Day

By Sam Elliott

The Boxing Day feast of football didn’t disappoint as festive points were up for grabs.

Some sides came baring gifts while others showed no Christmas spirt as the goals flowed once again.

Torquay United really mean business and offered little mercy to Yeovil Town.

The leaders exacted Boxing Day revenge and after being hit for six a year ago they did the same thing to the strugglers 12 months on.

Amarni Little, Danny Wright, Sam Sherring, Aaron Nemane, Conor Lemonheigh-Evans, Kyle Cameron got the goals in the 6-1 rout, pictured.

Torquay are now nine points clear at the top and will be leading the way going into 2021.

With second placed Sutton off, Hartlepool climbed into third.

They saw off in-form FC Halifax 3-1 - Ryan Johnson, Rhys Oates and Mason Bloomfield have Pools fans believing again.

Aldershot savaged rivals Woking with a three-goal six-minute blitz.

Jermaine Anderson got two as the Shots fired at the perfect time.

Connor Jennings rescued a point for Stockport County from a tricky trip to Altrincham.

Angelo Balanta just loves the BT Sport cameras.

He scored the only goal of the game as Dagenham edged out ten man Dover - but Elliot Justham had to save an Ade Azeeze penalty to secure the points.

Maidenhead move up to fifth after putting Wealdstone to the sword I’m style.

Ryan Upward, Josh Coley, Danilo Orsi-Dadomo and Nathan Blissett all scored in an comprehensive 4-0 win.

There were no goals as Eastleigh and Weymouth fired blanks.

There were only two National League South matches to survive on Boxing Day.

Chippenham missed out of moving into the top seven as they were pegged back by Bath City in the A4 derby.

Freddie Grant made it 1-1 and grabbed a battling point for the Romans.

Hampton won away for a sixth game in a row - Tyrell Miller-Rodney scored the winner as Gary McCann’s team came away from Dorking Wanderers with a 1-0 victory.

Gloucester City strengthen their grip on the National League North leadership.

Lewis Brunt’s first-half goal secures a big three points at home to Leamington.

Many of the chasers again dropped points on another good day for the pacesetters, who move seven points clear.

Hereford stunned second place Kidderminster Harriers 3-1, while Chorley kept AFC Fylde’s poor recent run going by winning by the same scoreline.

York City were humbled 4-2 at Bradford PA as two-goal Lewis Knight didn’t stay silent at the Horsfall Stadium.

Chester are third now and they came from being to win at AFC Telford - Anthony Dudley completing the turn-round.

Elsewhere, Joe Leesley and Tom Platt gave Boston United a 2-0 win at their new stadium against Alfreton Town.
