We're Sticking Together Says Kinnear As Dover Go Bottom

Chris Kinnear doesn’t believe it’s a case of his Dover Athletic players not giving it everything they’ve got.

The White are now bottom of the National League after they slipped to a 2-0 home defeat to Solihull Moors and Braintree won at Gateshead. Watch highlights here.

It’s a far cry from the play-off push of the last three years but Kinnear won’t call out his players in the press.

The manager accepts it’s one of the biggest challenges he has faced since coming to the club in 2013 but knows there’s a stomach for the fight.

“It’s difficult, and it’s very disappointing,” the veteran manager said.

“I don’t think it’s a case of commitment or attitudes. Everyone gave 100 per cent, but it was a day where nothing came off and we fell victim to an organised side who are having a good season.

“I’m not going to have a go at the players. If they needed a massive kick I would give them it but we’re sticking together.”

But Kinnear accepts things have to improve and quickly as his team plot their recovery.

“We’re giving away very sloppy goals and making wrong decisions in bad areas,” he said.

“We have got to work together, cut out the mistakes and we need to turn the corner as soon as possible.”
