'We Were Gr-Eight!' Moors Boss Delighted With Big Win

Spennymoor Town boss Jason Ainsley was pleased his side recovered from a slow start to blow away Halesowen Town in the FA Trophy.

The Moors traded blows with their visitors for the opening quarter of the game but ended the game as a contest before half-time – going in 6-2 up at the break.

And boss Ainsley admitted although he was delighted with the performance, the first 20 minutes wasn’t acceptable.

“It was disappointing, the way we started. We were lucky that we came here and scored some quality goals to get back into the game and it was important we built on that in the second-half,” he told the club’s official YouTube service.

“It could have been more in the second-half, but the lads have done well. We were not good enough defensively in the first 20 minutes.

“Physiologically, maybe it’s something different when you play teams from a lower league, we did the same against Witton Albion [in the FA Cup loss].

“But I’m delighted with the performance because it was a tricky tie and in the end we’ve come through with flying colours – it’s a great, morale boosting performance.
