Watson: Confident Gateshead Can Aim Big

Steve Watson says his side have every reason to believe for the rest of the season.

After getting through to the FA Trophy last eight with a win over Maidstone United, Gateshead can now focus on the league for a few games as they look to climb the table with matches in hand, writes Tom Feaheny.

"The confidence is there for the side, we are on a good unbeaten run and are looking to build on that," Watson told the club's website.

"It is a time to start believing, we are really confident right now, we are not losing games, we have a good strength in depth."

Looking at their Trophy win at home the 3-0 victory was pleasing for the boss due to conceding no goals.

"Defensively we were excellent, the three centre-backs were strong and covered each other, we won a lot of second balls, I'm delighted with the clean sheet.

"We have a good back-line and took our chances as well and they are the key elements you look to build on and we are doing just that."
