Vanarama's National League fan preview - Wrexham

Wrexham super supporter Clare Wynne talks us through the next ten months.

League sponsors Vanarama have been getting the fans’ perspective ahead of the new season - which kicks off this Saturday.

The hours are ticking down and new season is nearly upon us - so what have Wrexham fans got to look forward to?
As Wrexham fans we’ve got a lot to look forward too. We’ve got some great new signings to watch. Bryan Hughes has been putting a few youth players out there, so I hope we get to see some more from them too.

Locating that goalscorer has been a puzzle for a while. Do you think Bryan Hughes may have solved it?
He has made some fantastic new signings and our secret weapon Bobby Grant looks in full form in the pre-season friendlies so hoping that momentum carries on. JJ Hooper also looks very promising already.

Last season saw a play-off finish for the first time in five years. What needs to happen to go one further and secure an EFL return?
We need to play well like last season and build on that. Pushing more than last year is key. I think we will be able to do that with a stronger team, that we now have.

Who will be your one to watch coming August 3 and why?
Personally, I think it’s Bobby Grant. We didn’t see his full potential last season when he arrived, but he’s got so much more about him. I believe he is going to be one of our top goal scorers this season.

Who are the sides to watch out for and could be in the promotion mix?
I think it will be Fylde and Wrexham to watch this season, both top contenders last season so both have the taste of the top.

Who will cause a surprise and be up there against the odds?
Others in the promotion mix will be Notts County and Stockport, because they will want to go back up.

What ground are you most looking forward to going to?
Ours! It always is. The ground I’m most looking forward to is the Racecourse without a doubt. You don’t get an atmosphere as amazing as ours in any other ground.

And what game would you like to win more than any other?
The match I’m looking forward to the most is Chorley. It’ll be a brilliant Boxing Day match and hopefully we can recreate the score from last year against Salford but with Chorley instead!

Now the key question - where do you predict your team will finish next season?
I predict Wrexham will be finishing in the top two - hopefully with automatic promotion this season.
