Vanarama's National League fan preview - Solihull Moors

It was heroics last time for Solihull Moors - keen supporter Barry Molyneux discusses their chances for the new season.

League sponsors Vanarama have been getting the fans’ perspective ahead of the new season - which kicks off this Saturday.

The new season is nearly upon us - so what have Solihull fans got to look forward to?
Hopefully as good a season as the last one! Plus our home, Damson Park, has had a makeover this summer including a new main stand, it is now starting to look like a proper football stadium.

Arguably last season was the club’s best ever - can Tim and the team repeat the trick this time around?
We have a settled squad with just a couple of additions, so if we play to our potential then there is every chance.

What are the chances of going one better and getting into League Two?
The new signings have strengthened what was already a capable squad of players so they all know what it takes to win this league.

It’s not every summer you sign the league’s 27-goal top scorer! Can Paul McCallum hit those heights again?
Paul is a natural footballer, making scoring goals seem easy. If we give him the right service then hopefully we will see him pick up from where he left off last season.

What’s been the best bit of business done over the past few months?
Getting our management trio of Tim, Gaz and Quinny, to commit to the club for the next three years.

Who will be your one to watch coming August 3?
Our midfield maestro, Jamey Osborne.

Who are the other sides to watch out for and could be in the promotion mix?
The teams that made the play-offs last season, plus one or two who were inconsistent last time but will surely be looking to improve.

But who will be the season’s surprise package?
I would watch out for newly promoted Stockport County and Torquay United, as they are big clubs who will have the resources to compete at the top end of the National League.

What ground are you most looking forward to visiting and why?
Notts County’s Meadow Lane, for all of the historical reasons - plus Nottingham is a great city to visit.

And what game would you like to win more than any other and why?
Wrexham away, as they always manage to beat us at the Racecourse Ground 1-0 - often scoring at the death. So it would be nice to get our own back.

What opposition player would you most like to see in your side - and what makes him so good?
Danny Rowe..... so he can’t score against us!

Finally, the key question - where do you predict your team will finish next season?
Hopefully we have another good season and if we are consistent then there is no reason why we should not be challenging for the title.

Vanarama have recently launched the National League Club Reward scheme to help fans back their club’s budget. Every time a fan takes out a brand new van lease with Vanarama or a brand new car lease with Motorama their club will earn £100 and you will receive £30 cashback.
