Vanarama's National League fan preview - Dagenham & Redbridge

Daggers fanatic Mike White gives us the scoop on Peter Taylor's men.

League sponsors Vanarama have been getting the fans’ perspective ahead of the new season - which kicks off this Saturday.

What have fans of the Daggers got to look forward to this season?
Daggers fans are super excited. It’s lovely to start season well-funded and with a realistic attempt at a play-off or promotion push. We’ve had a lot of dark days in the past.

This summer has a different, more positive feel about it than last. What would represent success this season?
Play-offs as a minimum but being realistically in with a competitive team all season.

Connor Wilkinson’s goals gained you 12 points last season. Just how big of a loss is he? And are you happy with his replacement?
It’s a big loss that’s undeniable. He was class – a League One player. But we have recruited well - we must have goals in us – but they are spread about more and we have a much more experienced squad now.

What strikes you as the best bit of business done this summer?
I think Harold Odametey will prove a revelation with full time training. I think he could be a really good addition.

What has changed about the place this summer?
Last year we had no team for the first three months, we had to rely on academy players who had no experience. We hope for a steady competitive push all season.

Who is one player to keep an eye on this season?
Harold Odametey.

Which sides will be mixing it in the promotion places?
AFC Fylde probably. Bromley have spent a few quid and might be dark horses.

What ground are you most looking forward to visiting and why?
Torquay…for a nice weekend away!

What game is marked on your calendar as a must-win?
Always like beating Dover.

What opposition player would you most like to see in your side - and what makes him so good?
Unsure but probably Danny Rowe at AFC Fylde. He’s quick and strong.

Who might upset the apple cart a bit this year?
Bromley and ourselves. I would back Dagenham to have a really good season. We’re sleeping giants who have been awoken.

Where do you predict you will finish the season?
I think maybe third – but I hope with luck in running injury free we could go very close. Funding counts for a lot in this division and we are now very stable.
