Vanarama National League's March Monthly Award Winners Announced!

By Sam Elliott

It’s time to introduce you to March’s main men as those who shone in the Vanarama National League last month are rightly rewarded.

It may have seemed like a straight-forward selection but with a number of teams bang in form and players on the top of their game, it took days of discussion before the panel finally got to place trophies in hands.

There were two Phil Parkinsons in the running for the Manager of the Month - and one Dave Challinor!

In the end, the Wrexham version came out on top as they burst right back into the title picture, even if Stockport County continue to make life tough.

The Dragons enjoyed an incredible month with wins over promotion rivals Boreham Wood and Halifax – and they also beat Notts County in FA Trophy to get to the semi-final.

They also beat King’s Lynn, edged the game of the season against Dover Athletic and picked up a decent point at Bromley.

As others floundered in March, Wrexham found themselves up to second - edging their Parky ahead of his rivals and Altrincham name-sake, who also enjoyed a fabulous few weeks.

In the form they are in, Stockport County don’t leave the month behind empty-handed.

Paddy Madden has been one of the key figures behind the non-stop leaders’ unabated charge at the top.

He scored four goals last month, one against King’s Lynn, another at home to Wealdstone, and two when Notts County came to town. Madden also put his name to two assists.

Madden has 17 goals in 34 matches - averaging one in every two games this season.

Without his consistent scoring form, the Vanarama National League table would look rather different!

As you know, we love the Vanarama Volunteer of the Month award.

Thanks to the competition’s sponsors, it allows us the chance to offer vital recognition to those who give up their time to make their club a better place.

Tommy Rackley means so much to everyone at Torquay United - and he has come into his own since the tragic passing of his mother recently.

The Gulls say the regular volunteer has continued to carry out his much-valued duties without pause, throwing himself into the club so close to his heart.

His jobs including pre-match litter collection both inside and outside Plainmoor, in addition to
his post-game tasks of clearing the stands and going in search of lost property.

He can now be found in the bar after games - helping with glass collecting!

Torquay tell us that his non-stop effort just proves that you just can’t keep a good man down.

Congratulations to all our fantastic winners!
