Unibet's Vanarama National League Matchday 28 Preview

By Sam Elliott

Here we go again! After an FA Cup, FA Trophy and icy weather interrupted last week, the National League is roaring back - and the noise is about to become deafening.

There’s even a title shoot-out on its return to full strength - and a rivalry which never fails to deliver.

But it’s not just about Chesterfield vs Notts County as Unibet explain in their preview to Saturday’s action.

Chesterfield vs Notts County

A game that always lives up to the billing is not a bad place to start.

Frankly, we’re still recovering from August’s 2-2 draw. It was a match, with County looking dead and buried, that we all learned Macaulay Langstaff is the real deal.

It’s colder out there for sure, but thanks to the months that have passed and how tight things are at the top, this game could be even hotter than what we saw in the summer sun.

Yes, Chesterfield have games in hand but they simply can’t afford to fall 16 points off the pace. Keep your eyes peeled for a big match preview on the National League website later on.

Woking vs Barnet

The surprise packages of the season are failing miserably when it comes to keeping things quiet.

Woking have messed the whole going-under-the-radar thing up spectacularly. They’ve climbed to third and yes, we can see you up there!

They’ve won their last four and it’s now just one defeat in 13 National League games.

Barnet haven’t been much better when it comes to keeping their unexpectedly great season under wraps.

Dean Brennan has been rewarded with a new deal after one loss in 11. They’re up to fifth but know they could do with getting some more away wins on the board.

Maidstone United vs Wrexham

Both teams need points for very different reasons and that often produces brilliant games.

And after beating Notts County last week in the FA Trophy, George Elokobi knows what getting the Stones rolling again this weekend could mean.

The caretaker boss will be under no illusions about the size of the task his first league game represents.

First of all, his Maidstone team have lost five in a row in the league.

Performances have been so bad that promotion winning manager Hakan Hayrettin was relieved of his duties.

Not only are they currently dreadful in the league, but Wrexham are on fire right now themselves.

Even their questionable away form - which often prompts hopes for host clubs - seems to have really picked up as well.

It’s four wins in a row for the Dragons, and you can throw the victory at Coventry in for good measure. They’re understandably red hot favourites for this one.

What a weekend we’ve got in store!
