Unibet's National League North And South Preview

By Sam Elliott

One title race is frankly sweltering, while the other could run cold if the chasing pack don’t get themselves up and running again.

But down the bottom it looks like it’ll go to the wire as four sides in each divisions scramble for safety - and this week’s Unibet feature games are two that involve the promotion race and relegation battle.

The National League North and South seasons certainly have not lacked talking points so far and Saturday will provide plenty more.

Dartford vs Chippenham Town - National League South

It’s a battle at either ends of the table and both need fortunes to start changing if they want to achieve their objectives.

Dartford know many more slip ups could see relentless Ebbsfleet United push off into the distance before the clocks go forward.

After a resurgence, they took just one point from fixtures with Hemel Hempstead, Worthing and Welling United. The gap already stands at eight points - and it just can’t get any bigger if the title race is to run on.

Things are so much tighter down the bottom and Chippenham - despite just one defeat in six - have slipped into the relegation zone. But they’re undefeated in four away from home and won’t go down without a fight at Princes Park.

Boston United vs Darlington - National League North

This certainly isn’t how Boston United planned it at the start of the season.

And in truth, not too many at Darlington would have predicted they would be within touching distance of the top, either.

The Pilgrims have been sucked into the bottom four after a torrid few months that has seen them capture just two points from a possible 24.

Their wonderful new home will be playing host to Step 3 sides if things don’t improve and pronto - and they now have three promotion chasers back to back.

After winning four home games in a row in November and early December, Boston have fallen apart and Ian Culverhouse, who won this division with King’s Lynn Town three years ago, needs to find the stomach for a fight at the other end.

The Quakers could do with some title tips.

Darlington may be third but they sit just a point off Culverhouse’s old side after Lynn drew at Spennymoor on Tuesday.

Jacob Hazel’s form means they have hardly felt the loss of top scorer Mark Beck.

Will he keep firing on Saturday? Things are certainly heating up!
