Unibet's National League North And South Preview

By Sam Elliott

How important is December in the race for promotion from the National League South and North?

Well, as the past few seasons have all shown us, you can’t underestimate the power of a fruitful festive period.

After midweek mayhem in both divisions, Unibet takes a look at what Saturday could bring.

Dartford vs Bath City - National League South

It’s probably still a little early to be thinking about it too much, but those hunting Ebbsfleet United down know they can’t afford a gap to appear.

Fleet’s wonderful 6-0 win at Worthing means they already boast a four-point cushion - but also have three games in hand over second place Dartford.

Alan Dowson knows the minimum expected if they’re to keep the leaders in check is to win their home games. They’ve won nine from eleven at Princes Park so far.

Bath City have been through too much in recent weeks to think about promotion too deeply but with games in hand for obvious reasons, they could find themselves within two points of the play-offs with a productive weekend.

Scarborough Athletic vs Brackley Town - National League North

There’s nothing quite like two of the teams battling it out for the title to provide a winter warmer!

It’s gone from entertaining to intriguing in the last week or so at the top of the National League North.

On Wednesday Chester closed in on leader Brackley and now just four points separate the top five.

Scarborough are in the pack and have an ace up their sleeve which they feel could swing things in their favour into the New Year.

The Seadogs have lost just once at home since September 2021. It’s really not fun for anyone who arrives at the Flamingo Land Stadium.

Brackley haven’t been at their best on their travels and Roger Johnson probably knows their away form will need to improve if they’re to stay on top.

Only Chorley have won less games than their three victories on the road in the top half, so Scarborough will fancy their chances.

But the Saints are table toppers for a reason and they’re unbeaten in 13, remember.

What a weekend it’s going to be!
