Two Weeks To Go! Saturday's Friendly Action Reviewed

By Sam Elliott

There were a number of stand-out pre-season results for National League sides on Saturday as the two-week siren was sounded.

With a fortnight to go until the big kick-off, fine-tuning is now taking place as the season draws nearer.

Ebbsfleet United secured an impressive 2-0 win over League One Gillingham, with Ebou Adams’ incredible overhead kick a highlight.

Bath City, pictured, was unstoppable as the cut through a young Bristol Rovers side like a knife through butter.

Adam Mann was at the double as Jerry Gills’ Romans won 6-1 at Twerton Park.

Leyton Orient came from 2-0 down to win 3-2 at Concord Rangers as their impressive pre-season continues.

Last season’s top scorer Macauley Bonne scored twice and in-form Josh Koroma’s fine volley completed the turn around.

Southport thrashed Barrow 3-0 with Jordan Richards lighting up the afternoon with a lovely free-kick.

Salford City won 1-0 at Woking as Carl Piergianni nodded home the winner.

Wrexham were “below standard” at AFC Telford as the Bucks ran out 3-1 winners over the Red Dragons.

Two goals from Daniel Udoh, surely a marked man next season in the National League North, was Wrexham’s undoing.

An entertaining local game saw Blyth Spartans and South Shields draw 2-2.

Weston-super-Mare fans didn’t get value for money despite their 7-1 win over Frome.

That’s because they didn’t have to pay a penny as the club threw open their doors for free.

Gateshead won 2-1 at Guiseley, while Maidenhead were 2-0 winners at Basingstoke. Ryan Bird was on the scoresheet at the Camrose.

Barnet went down 1-0 to Ipswich Town, while Birmingham edged past Kidderminster Harriers 2-1.

Chelmsford City look good in pre-season - Rod Stringer’s side won 4-0 at Harlow as they gear up for the first game at home to Torquay on August 4.

Chesterfield boss Martin Allen will be delighted as they eased to a comfortable 5-0 win at Nuneaton.

It was the same scoreline at Chorley but Morecambe went away winners as the League Two side cruised to victory.

Dulwich Hamlet lifted the Glyn Beverly Memorial Cup after beating Bromley on penalties. The silverware was won after the 1-1 draw.

Bradley Hudson-Odoi was Wealdstone’s hero as he struck to secure a 1-1 draw with Aldershot.

Oxford City won 4-1 against Chesham, FC United beat Scarborough 3-2 and Sutton went down 2-0 at home to a young Chelsea side.
