Two New Stones

Vanarama National League South club Wealdstone have signed former Watford defender Jack Smith.

Smith joined the Stones` league rivals Hemel Hempstead Town in September after he had been released by Sky Bet League Two side AFC Wimbledon at the end of last season.

The now 32-year-old started his career with Watford where he went on to make twenty-five first-team appearances.

He transferred to Swindon Town in July 2005 and remained a regular first-team squad player at the County Ground for four years, playing 138 times and scoring 9 goals.

But, along with a dozen others, he was released by new boss Danny Wilson at the end of the 2008/09 season and, after impressing in pre-season, was signed by Millwall in time to make his debut against Southampton in August 2009.

He played just under 100 times for the Lions before being allowed to leave at the end of the 2014/15 season.

Signing for the Dons at the start of last season, he made nineteen appearances and scored twice before leaving in June.

Also signing for the Stones is 19-year-old former Brentford youth team goalkeeper Joe Taylor.
