Bromley`s league rivals Chester FC rounded off their pre-season campaign with a 2-1 home defeat by Burnley under-21s.

National League newcomers Sutton United ended their pre-season campaign with a 3-1 victory against Ryman Premier Division Tonbridge Angels.

Sutton went in front in the 25th minute through a low 20-yard shot from Bedsente Gomis, and although Tonbridge equalised just after the hour with a Luke Allen penalty, new signing Chris Dickson restored the lead within a minute from a Gomis cross.

Gomis then missed a penalty before Craig Dundas made it 3-1 with 5 minutes remaining.

An inexperienced Kidderminster Harriers side were no match for a Championship Birmingham City XI as the Aggborough outfit completed pre-season with a defeat.

Jack Storer bagged a brace for the Blues, with James Vaughan and Andrew Shinnie also finding the back of the net for the visitors.

Harriers` new league rivals Tamworth entertained Birmingham`s new league rivals Aston Villa at The Lamb.

And Villa`s youngsters produced a dominant display, despite seeing the Lambs take an 11th minute lead with Andy Burns` fine strike from a tight angle.

Rushian Hepburn Murphy equalised in the 19th minute and then put the visitors ahead on the half-hour mark, with Callum O’Hare netting a third 10 minutes from time.

National League South newcomers East Thurrock United warmed up for Saturday`s opening game with a good 3-0 win at former Ryman Premier Division rivals Canvey Island.

The Rocks took the lead after only 5 minutes when Joe Gardner drilled a low ball from the right wing into the dangerous area between defence and goalkeeper. Luis Morrison attempted to intercept the pass but in stretching out a leg only served to turn the ball past Conor Gough and into his own net.

It was 2-0 on 13 minutes when the Rocks earned a corner. The ball was whipped in and steered goalwards but was blocked by a defender. However, the loose ball went straight to an un-named triallist left-back who headed home.

The visitors extended their advantage 4 minutes into the second half through former Canvey midfielder Ben Marlow, who waltzed his way through the Gulls defence before slotting his shot into the back of the net.

Fellow National League South new boys, Hampton & Richmond Borough, took home the Ryman (Isthmian) Charity Shield.

Liam Envermaras netted City`s consolation.
