The Tinners toppled leaders Worthing in another twist in a title race for the ages at the weekend.
Just three points separates Truro in first and Torquay United in fifth and after returning to the top, the manager reckons his side have staying power.
“It’s massive to be top with four games to go, it’s in our hands now,” the former York City manager, a National League champion with Macclesfield, said after the 2-1 south coast success.
“The players have pulled out all the stops again. Everyone would want to be where we are at the moment, it’s all to play for.
“It was vital that we got a win. We knew Worthing would always get more nervy than us because they were in top position.
“If they drew, they would still be in a good position, so we knew we had to win the game. I wouldn’t say we were great, in fact we rode our luck at times, but that doesn’t matter at this stage of the season."
Askey knows if Truro win their last four games, there’s pretty much nothing any of their rivals can do about it.
They face a trip to Hornchurch next with a huge crowd expected when Torquay United visit over Easter.
They then face a visit to Weston-super-Mare before a final day home game with St Albans City on April 26.
“When you put the effort in like the players are doing, you've got a chance," he added.
