Trio of New Wings

Vanarama National League club Welling United have signed former...

....Wing Michael Bakare, goalkeeper Ferhat Aksoy and winger Kurtis Cumberbatch.

Bakare, 28, made five starts and scored one goal for the Wings` league rivals Braintree Town after joining just over a year ago before breaking his leg in a road accident which cut short his season at Cressing Road.

He had the all clear from his specialist to begin playing again last February and joined then Ryman League Premier Division Bury Town on dual registration, Bakare having worked with the Blues` manager Ben Chenery at Chelmsford City, and it was while he was with the Clarets that he made the step up to the Football League to join Macclesfield Town.

Bakare (pictured), who started his career with Leyton and then had a spell with Welling in 2009/10, making nineteen appearances, has also played for Dover Athletic, Tonbridge Angels, Southport and Droylsden, switched to VCD Athletic in March and then swiftly onto Witham Town.
He returned to add half-a-dozen more games to his Iron tally.

Turkish keeper Ferhat Aksoy was previously with Orduspor and Bayrampasaspor in his home country.

The 22-year-old played in the Ryman League Division One South for Walton Casuals for a spell last season, leaving in April.

Having signed in late January 2014, Aksoy made his first start in goal in a 4-3 defeat to Tooting & Mitcham United.

Aksoy featured eight times as a Stag before decided to leave the club a year ago due to complications, subsequently joining Hayes & Yeading United.

In February he moved to Oxford City having also trained with West Ham United.

Cumberbatch joins the Wings from Spartan South Midlands League side Hadley, who are managed by former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Micky Hazard.

He was released by Sky Bet Championship side Charlton Athletic at the end of last season.

Cumberbatch joined Charlton from then Championship rivals Watford, where he completed a two-year scholarship, having previously learned his trade in the youth ranks at Tottenham.
