Trio Of New Recruits For The Silkmen

Macclesfield Town have announced the arrival of three new signings.

The Silkmen have completed the signings of Plymouth Argyle striker Nathan Blissett, Forest Green Rovers right-back Callum Evans and Southport centre-back Adam Dugdale.

Blissett and Evans have joined for the remainder of the 2017/18 campaign, whilst Dugdale will spend the next month with the Silkmen.

The signings have been made with the help of the `Silkmen Campaign Fund`, who have provided towards the financial commitment of the new arrivals.

Blissett is a 6`4” centre-forward who looks to use his height and power to lead the line.

His eye-catching spell at Evo-Stik League South side Romulus propelled him to Kidderminster Harriers in 2012. From there, he had loan spells at Cambridge United, Hednesford Town and Bristol Rovers, eventually joining the latter on a permanent basis.

He was part of the Rovers team promoted to the EFL in 2014/15, then had loan spells at Tranmere Rovers and Lincoln City before arriving at Torquay.

He went to score 12 goals in forty-one games for Torquay and his form saw him move to Plymouth in the 2017 January transfer window.

Twenty-seven-year-old Blissett was regular in the Argyle squad for the opening months of this season but will now move to the Silkmen for the remainder of this season.

Evans will be familiar to Macclesfield fans, as he had a loan spell with the Silkmen during the 2016/17 campaign that was unfortunately cut short due to an injury.

The 22-year-old progressed through the ranks at Barnsley and made three first-team appearances for the club.

In February of last year Evans made a loan move to the Silkmen in order to get more minutes and helped Macclesfield to back-to-back victories before picking up an injury and returning to Oakwell.

After leaving Barnsley last summer Evans made the switch to League Two newcomers Forest Green.

He hasn’t been able to find regular football at the New Lawn this term and had a loan spell with Torquay in the Autumn, featuring in Macclesfield’s 1-0 victory at Plainmoor in late September.

After returning to the New Lawn, Evans featured in the New Year’s Day game against Wycombe Wanderers but will now link up with the Silkmen for the remainder of the campaign.

Dugdale (pictured) is an experienced central defender who joins on a short-term loan from Southport.

He joined the National League North side last summer but has found himself on the fringe of the squad in recent weeks.

The 30-year-old comes with plenty of experience in his career.

He progressed through the academy at Crewe Alexandra and after spells with the likes of Barrow AFC and AFC Telford United, returned to Crewe in the summer of 2010.

He went to play a key role in helping the club to promotion from League Two in 2012 and then went on to join Tranmere Rovers and Morecambe.

In the summer of 2016 Dugdale joined National League Eastleigh and after twenty appearances he joined Southport last summer in a bid to move back to his native Liverpool.

Dugdale will now link up with John Askey’s side for the next few weeks to add competition for places in the heart of the Macclesfield defence.

The trio will all be available to make their Macclesfield debuts in Saturday’s trip to AFC Fylde.
