Time Running Out To Change North And South Landscapes

By Sam Elliott

There’s little over a quarter of the season remaining and time is fast running out to change the outlook across the divisions.

Every matchday really matters as the countdown starts and with just over two months left things have got to change and fast if we’re going to get a different outcome.

Especially in the title races, with the National League North advantage now very much with Tamworth.

They go looking for win number 24 at Hereford and in a tough day for the challengers, Scunthorpe United know they really must win at Scarborough Athletic with the gap already 12 points.

Chester want home advantage in the play-offs and to skip the Eliminators. To do that, they need a top three finish and that’s where they currently sit - but they also know they are just one bad day away from being out of the top seven altogether.

That’s because two points separates third and eighth places. The Seals are at Farsley Celtic while it’s a special day on and off the pitch for Chorley as they face Southport. Read more about why right here.

Alfreton Town moved back into the pack in midweek and face King’s Lynn Town, who have their own issues down the bottom to contend with. Because of how tight things are, Brackley Town know a win at home is certain to see them back in.

Curzon Ashton sit sixth and the Nash want to celebrate manager Craig Mahon’s new contract with three points at home to tricky Warrington Town.

Things are very similar in the National League South - it’s going to take a lot to gun down leaders Yeovil Town but the race is on to earn a play-off place.

The Glovers take on Havant & Waterlooville and if those chasing them think they’ve got a job on, the Hawks must claw back 11 points if they are to have a chance of survival.

Ollie Pearce just can’t stop scoring for Worthing right now. His four goals last weekend made it 14 in his last eight matches and he now has Weymouth in his sights as the Rebels look to reel in the long-term leaders.

There’s vital points on offer at both ends as third place Chelmsford City take on third from bottom Eastbourne Borough.

Torquay United have sunk to 11th place after a rotten run and they have to get their promotion push back on track at Braintree Town, who are above them in the table.

Aveley still think they can get themselves into the top seven and three points at rivals Hampton & RB would really help their cause. Slough Town can’t be discounted and face a Chippenham side fresh from victory over Dartford.
