Three Faultless Teams Really Flying After Gripping Night

By Sam Elliott

Just three teams remain flawless across the three divisions after a frantic Tuesday night of action.

Chesterfield won their third Vanarama National League game in a row after leaving it late to leave Oxford City with maximum reward, Will Grigg stuck the winner.

Barnet should have joined them on nine points but threw away a 3-0 lead at Eastleigh, Paul McCallum netting a late leveller.

Southend United also had a frustrating night, Dorking Wanderers are up and running thanks to Jason Prior. Wealdstone are third, they drew 1-1 at Bromley.

Adam Senior was the FC Halifax Town hero as they defeated Oldham Athletic, who have lost two of their first three and face the leaders on Saturday.

Woking found their feet to get their first win. Reece Grego-Cox shone as he shot down Rochdale. David Ferguson put the seal on Hartlepool’s win over Maidenhead United.

Luke Hannatt and Marcus Dinanga both bagged a brace as Gateshead’s long trip to Dagenham was well worth it.

Altrincham twice came from behind to leave York City with a point as Dom Poleon got on the scoresheet, Ebbsfleet United were too strong for Aldershot Town.

Luke Conlan timed his goal perfectly as AFC Fylde inflicted a first defeat on Kidderminster Harriers.

Two teams stand strong on 100% in the National League South - and both of them won very well.

Weston-super-Mare sliced Bath City apart at Twerton Park with six different scorers as the Seagulls continue to soar.

Worthing were too hot for Slough Town to handle, a 4-1 away was wonderful for their fans and they were helped by Ricky Aguiar’s early double.

Chelmsford City are third, they left Welling as 99th minute winners after Josh Castiglione earned all the points in dramatic fashion.

Yeovil beat Truro 2-1 as Jake Wannell also won it late on as Torquay United got back on track and they too needed to do it in the closing stages - Aaron Jarvis buried Chippenham Town.

Elsewhere there were great wins for Tonbridge Angels, Farnborough and Maidstone, with Sam Corne proving to be the difference at Braintree.

There may be no perfect side remaining in the National League North but there’s plenty of fast starters.

Scunthorpe United go top after a 4-0 win over pointless Darlington, Danny Whitehall with two goals.

Jordan Cranston’s composed penalty earned Hereford a 1-0 victory over Rushall, and Brackley Town join them on seven points - Danny Newton downed Bishop’s Stortford.

Glen Taylor got two more goals as Spennymoor hit Southport for five as Harry Green’s winner ended Blyth Spartan’s brilliant start was hailed by Scarborough Athletic.

Warrington beat Buxton 1-0 as Ken Charles’ double got the better of Gloucester to leave Banbury happy. Tamworth will be delighted with their return, a 2-0 win at Boston United was sealed by Ben Acquaye.
