Teams Try Again To Defeat The Cold On Action Packed Night

By Sam Elliott

There’s eight matches going on today and as the thaw begins to set in, we may start to see the temperatures rising.

It was a weekend of frustration for many clubs with more than half of Saturday’s games falling foul of the weather.

None more so that Alfreton Town. Minutes before their televised tie with Walsall was due to start, the referee decided it just wasn't safe. They try again at the Impact Arena this evening.

Most of tonight’s games tonight come in the National League South and with leaders Yeovil Town not in action until Wednesday night at Bath City, the two teams behind them can ramp up the pressure.

Hampton & RB have won nine of their last ten league games and don’t see why they should settle for the play-offs.

Braintree Town arrive and have fond memories of the Beveree - it was at that ground they won promotion at five years ago.

Second place Maidstone United are on cloud nine after beating Barrow. They’re back at home later but Truro City arrive in a good place themselves with new ownership as well as a 3-1 weekend win behind them.

Worthing and Weston-super-Mare also won well on Saturday and they meet with goalscorers Ollie Pearce and Reuben Reid in great form.

Torquay United can chip away at the teams in front of them by defeating Weymouth at Plainmoor and Chippenham meet Hemel Hempstead Town looking to get their play-off charge going.

There’s two games in the National League North tonight too.

Brackley Town are looking for a third win in a row and face a Chester side needing to close the gap to the top seven.

Hereford will move into the top seven should they get the better of Warrington Town at Edgar Street - but will need to be a whole lot better than the weekend when they lost 5-1 at home to Scunthorpe United.
