Struggling Moors Desperate To Get Their Mojo Back

Spennymoor Town missing out on a National League North play-off place would be a “disaster” according to assistant manager Tommy Miller.

The Moors dropped out of the top seven thanks to Saturday’s 1-0 defeat at Curzon Ashton.

Despite that disappointing result, Spennymoor still have two games extra to play and their destiny is in their own hands.

It’s been a tough run of results for the club - they have won just one of their previous eight games - but finish their campaign with three home fixtures against clubs at the bottom end of the table.

Miller says Moors were well below par on Saturday and admits they need to find momentum from somewhere.

“There wasn’t much in the game but we were slow in possession and not positive enough,” Miller told the club’s YouTube channel.

“We have to be better, it’s as simple as that. The team we put out should be putting on a much better performance.

“From the standards we’ve set this season, we’re not hitting them at the moment. We’ve got massive three games left and it would be a disaster to throw it away now from the position we’re in.

“We can’t keep relying on other results. You need the points on the board. We should have had a play-off spot wrapped up weeks ago. We’ve let ourselves down recently and only the lads in the dressing room can finish the season on a high.

“We’re going to need some momentum now because we’ll probably need two wins from the last three games. We need to get our mojo back.”
