Sports Secure New Striker As Alfie Is Added To Squad

Eastbourne Borough have boosted their promotion chances by signing a striker.

Havant’s Alfie Rutherford joins the National League South club on loan until the New Year.

Rutherford has struggled to dislodge the Hawks’ frontmen since promotion to the top flight last May.

He heads to the Sports where he links up with his former manager at Bognor Regis, Jamie Howell.

Eastbourne are tenth, but just a point outside the play-offs places. They face a trip to Gloucester City this weekend, and Rutherford could make his debut.

“As the agreed loan is a youth loan Alfie can still participate in both the Hampshire Senior and Portsmouth Senior Cup during his loan spell at the Sports,” read Havant’s statement.

“All at the club would like to wish Alfie all the best during his loan spell and look forward to his return at the start of the year.”
