Spireites A Step Closer As Goals Do Damage Elsewhere

Chesterfield need just one more point for the title following another enthralling National League day.

A 2-2 draw at Oldham Athletic wasn’t quite enough to get it won today - despite a valiant fightback. Bailey Hobson and a Joe Quigley penalty earned a point, and they can now win it on Wednesday if they avoid defeat at FC Halifax Town.

That’s because Barnet went down 1-0 at Woking. Kevin Berkoe’s goal on the hour a huge boost to the Cards’ survival hopes.

York City’s season has life in it still and John Lenell-Lewis’ late winner ended their rotten run and gave them a critical three points against Aldershot Town.

Elsewhere at the bottom, Rakish Bingham edged Ebbsfleet closer to salvation with a hat-trick against Gateshead, they won 4-2, while Dorking and Solihull Moors drew 1-1.

Kidderminster picked up a useful points at Bromley in a 0-0 draw as Manny Duku earned Wealdstone a huge victory up at AFC Fylde.

Boreham Wood are worried - a Chris Conn-Clarke winner boosted Altrincham’s play-off bid.

Maidenhead United still have worries. Josh Hl continued his great scoring form as the Daggers won 4-1.

Rochdale are safe surely now. Their 4-1 win at Eastleigh was earned with two goals from Kairo Mitchell. Hartlepool and Southend United ended goalless.

In the National League South, Yeovil Town’s lead is down to seven points.

The Glovers drew 0-0 at Slough Town as Chelmsford City beat Bath City 3-1 - Jermaine Francis score again.

Worthing’s bad run continues, they lost at Chippenham, as Maidstone United up the play-off heat - they added to Dartford’s woes. Liam Sole and Jephte Tanga got the goals.

Torquay United were hammered 4-1 at Tonbridge while Ben Seymour scored Hampton’s winner at Hemel.

Eastbourne won the big game at the bottom as they edged out Taunton 2-0. Welling, Braintree, Farnborough and Truro City also were victorious.

Tamworth are still in control of the National League North, even if they couldn’t polish off Chester.

The leaders drew 0-0 and that means Scunthorpe United are 13 points behind after beating Banbury United 2-0. Danny Whitehall and Danny Elliott scored.

Kelsey Mooney hit a hat-trick on back-to-back weekends - Boston United easily saw off Farsley Celtic.

Paul Blackett scored twice as South Shields left Buxton 2-0 winners. Zak Lilley put the seal on Brackley Town’s 2-0 win over Hereford.

Bishop’s Stortford are relegated - Jordan Thewlis scored twice as Alfreton Town enjoyed a 3-0 win.

Darlington win again. Cameron Salkeld scored again as Steve Watson’s side beat Peterborough Sports.

Elsewhere there were big wins for King’s Lynn, Gloucester City, Spennymoor, Chorley and Blyth Spartans.
