Southend See The Light As Leaders Send Out A Message

It turned out to be a day to remember for Southend United who have salvation in their sight and for Chesterfield too, who struck an early title blow to the chasing pack.

The sale of the Shrimpers this afternoon edged ever closer and on the pitch things are looking up after a 2-0 win over Oxford City at a bouncing Roots Hall. They are off the bottom after Harry Cardwell and Jack Wood’s first half goals, pictured.

The leaders turned on the second half style to defeat in-form Bromley to keep their noses in front. Tom Naylor’s fifth goal of the season sealed the deal after Joe Quigley nudged the host ahead. It’s an eighth win in nine for the table toppers.

Solihull Moors remain unbeaten after defeating Rochdale 2-0 and they also came good after the break with Jack Stevens and Josh Kelly the scorers.

It was a night of late drama elsewhere, Nicke Kabamba got Barnet’s winner deep into stoppage time made AFC Fylde’s long trip home a painful one.

Altrincham won for a fourth time in a row as Chris Conn-Clarke starred again as Alex Newby made the points secure at home to Aldershot Town. The Robins remain in the top seven.

It was heartache in the seventh minute of time added on for Woking again - Tylor Golden took the points back to Halifax after the Shaymen’s late show.

Kidderminster Harriers’ woeful winless run is over and they stunted a form side after Bailey Hobson’s winning goal did for Dorking.

Maidenhead United took a valuable point from their trip to Oldham, Bradley Keetch levelling up after Alex Reid carried on his red hot scoring form, It ended 1-1 at Boundary Park.
