Shay Boss Chris Has A Plan To Snatch The Play-Off Advantage

Chris Millington has backed his FC Halifax Town players to hold their nerve and claim the final play-off spot.

He knows they will be in control of their own destiny if they defeat Oldham Athletic tonight in a game being held at Chesterfield.

The Shaymen saw Aldershot Town jump over them and into seventh place by winning at Gateshead last night. One club from three will take the last spot with Southend United still in the mix.

They won’t be if Halifax win tonight and should they defeat the out-of-form Latics, a win at Eastleigh on the final day will mean they can’t be stopped.

Millington explained to the Halifax Courier why playing at the SMH Group Stadium later could really help his side. "We'll have a bit more time and space because Chesterfield's pitch is slightly bigger so we can stretch Oldham a little bit more,” he said after Tuesday’s 0-0 draw with Ebbsfleet.

“We can make them run, we can open up spaces a bit better, so it'll give us that bit more time in and around the box.

"We're dead confident in the group we've got. There'll be more changes against Oldham because it's a very quick turnaround and our biggest competition in the next four days is fatigue so we've got to maintain a freshness and an energy that allows us to play how we played tonight and get the points we need."
