Sarll Says Ardley's Arrival Changes The Weekend Forecast

Darren Sarll says Woking are getting very close to being a serious side but knows Neal Ardley’s arrival has changed the weekend outlook.

York City head to the Laithwaite Community Stadium for the live TNT Sports encounter and the Cards boss knows they should be going into the game with three points firmly in their back pocket.

But wasteful Woking spurred half a dozen huge opportunities to let Ebbsfleet United off the hook - and he knows they can’t keep doing that if they’re realistic about taking the next step this season.

“Whenever we draw at home we’re disappointed, whatever the performance we put out,” he said ahead of the 12.30pm kick-off.

“But I don’t think I’ll be more disappointed for two dropped points all season than I was on Tuesday night. It was chance after chance after chance. I would rather have two chances, score them both and not concede and be boring!

“It was a lack of quality in front of goal, not a bad day at the office. Good teams take their chances. We’re on the cusp of being a really good side, a really good side. But you need to win games like that to show everyone that you are a good side.

“We’re moving nicely in a good direction, but that has to be solidified by points.”

York would give anything to be undefeated in six like Woking but since Ardley arrived, they look at least ready to turn the corner.

“It’s brilliant for York City that Neal Ardley is now their manager,” Sarll added.

“But that means it’s going to be an even harder game for us. He’s a brilliant coach and a brilliant manager. It’s going to be difficult and we will need to take our chances.”
