Sam Shrouder's Death Leaves Southport Deeply Saddened

The National League are saddened to learn of the death of Southport’s Life President Sam Shrouder.

The National League North club are in mourning following the news that the committed lifelong fan passed away earlier today.

Port confirmed he had been battling ill-health for some time. The National League extends our deepest condolences to Sam’s wife Linda and all the family and many friends.

A popular figure within Merseyside football, his dedication to Southport was underlined by the fact the The Sam Shrouder Stand sits proudly at The Big Help Stadium. He was a regular at Haig Avenue and will be missed by many.

Emotional Director Steve Porter says the game has lost a great person and a loyal servant.

He said: ”I have lost a great friend I’ve known for over thirty years. Sam was the most wonderful person anybody could wish to meet. I really don’t know what else to say at the moment apart our thoughts are with his wife Linda, Ben his son and all his family. RIP my great friend.”

The club have asked supporters as well as anyone else who had a connection with Sam to get in touch with their memories for a special tribute.

They will include the messages in their programme and website and you can contribute by emailing rob@southportfc.net
