Revenge Mission In Mind For The Big BT Sport Live Game

By Sam Elliott

Chesterfield’s players have been told: don’t let yourself be fooled by Solihull Moors’ recent iffy form - we've got to set the record straight!

The two fancied teams meet in this weekend’s live BT Sport game.

Because of the World Cup, the TV blackout is paused - the match between the two EFL hopefuls kicks-off at 3pm.

But Moors, the defeated Vanarama National League Promotion Finalists from last season, are in a sticky spot just now.

Taking two points from 12 on offer, they also bowed out of the FA Cup as they made the long trip to Hartlepool United on Tuesday night.

The last thing they need is a trip to one of the league’s big hitters - Chesterfield are feared again after four wins from five.

Coach Danny Webb says his players shouldn’t be checking the form guide and knows Neal Ardley’s team will be up there when it mattered.

He said: “We know what is expected. In front of a big home crowd against a team that could be seen as a bit of a wounded animal. They are one of the favourites to be up there with us.

“They’ve had a bad couple of results just like we had a bad couple of results. Like any other team, they will bounce back.

“We’ve got to make sure they don’t start that against us.

“They are a good footballing team - going forward, they are certainly not short of options. We have to be on our toes, certainly defensively.”

They only need to remember back to last year for an unwanted reminder of what the Moors can do. Coming back from the dead to put the knife into their title charge, it could be a little revenge mission on Saturday.

“Last season we had one of those disappointing days,” Webb added.

“I think like always there is always a bit of payback hopefully from our side.”

Ardley cut a heartbroken figure on Tuesday night with his team just moments from causing an upset at Hartlepool.

He says injuries are hampering progress but knows how important it is to get a win on the board after a testing few weeks.

“I thought at half time we should have been two or three goals up,” he told the club’s YouTube channel.

“Their coach came up to me after the game and said they had dodged a bullet - it’s cruel, but I’m proud of every single one of them. They were warriors out there.

“We need to get some bodies back and we have to recover from what is going to be a really tough game.”
