It’s certainly been a first few months to be proud of for experienced Braintree Town manager Steve Pitt.
Replacing Angelo Harrop, who departed in December after triumphantly taking the club back into the National League, was never going to be easy.
Working as Harrop's assistant from the summer of 2022, he knew what needed to be fixed.
The Iron have gone from relegation problems to eight points above the drop-zone and on Saturday they put an end to Barnet’s brilliant 25-game unbeaten run.
Pitt has won 12 of his 25 matches at the helm and fans hope this is just the start.
The 76-year-old has seen it all before and the manager thinks his players deserve so much credit as they edge towards a second season in the division.
“I’ve only been doing the job for a few months but it’s been a fantastic time,” he said.
“It is testament to the players and their application. I thought we were really, really good against Barnet - it was have been a travesty if we didn’t win it.
“We believe in what we do and how we’re doing it. We don’t change what we do for anyone and we believe in the personnel, our formation and our approach.
“I would back us to win against anybody, especially at home.”
But there is some bad news. Kyreece Lisbie has been recalled by his parent club, Colchester United, after a fantastic few weeks.
Braintree are looking to secure their status in their next few weeks and have back-to-back away matches at Tamworth and Southend United next.
