Payne Earns Last-Gasp Avenue Leveller

Bradford Park Avenue, who had drawn their opening game in the...

....Vanarama National League North last Saturday, also shared the spoils in their second – an amazing 4-4 draw at the Horsfall Stadium against Curzon Ashton.

The Nash had been hammered 6-1 by relegated Kidderminster Harriers last weekend, and found themselves a goal down in Yorkshire after just 6 minutes through Ben McKenna.

And when Liam Dickinson doubled Avenue`s lead 7 minutes later, visiting fans in the 334 crowd feared the worst!

But credit Curzon, who fought back and were level by the 24th minute after goals from Liam Tomsett (16 minutes) and then Iain Howard.

And the visitors deservedly went into the half-time interval on level terms.

Curzon then took the lead for the first time after 64 minutes through a Paul Ennis penalty.

But on 76 minutes Chris Sharp made it 3-3.

However, former Park Avenue defender Danny Hall headed home the visitors` fourth goals just 2 minutes later and that looked to have given his new side all three points.

Two minutes into time added on at the end of the game though, Sanchez Payne (pictured) popped up to level proceedings.

It was certainly a thriller, but Curzon boss John Flanagan will need to take a long hard look at his defence, after conceding 10 goals in two games!
