On This Day: Action From The Archives (April 20th)

By Tom Feaheny

It was a dramatic day back in 2013 as Mansfield Town were crowned champions and gained promotion.

Mansfield beat Wrexham to secure promotion back to the Football League after a five-year absence, writes Tom Feaheny.

The Stags went into the game knowing victory would send them up, with second-placed Kidderminster Harriers sitting two points behind.

And Matt Green's 40th minute penalty, awarded after Louis Briscoe was tripped by Glen Little, secured victory.

Stockport County were relegated after losing 4-0 at 2nd placed Kidderminster, the result wasn't enough though for Harriers who missed out on top spot.

Hereford ended the season on a high as they thumped relegated Telford, now Premier League player Sam Clucas scored twice.

Alfreton secured their third win in four after defeating Forest Green 2-1.

Braintree secured a top-half finish with a narrow win at relegated Barrow, Dan Holman won it with a fine strike from the edge of the box.

Nuneaton gained a 1-0 win at Dartford, Wes York got the goal with ten minutes to go.

Their status was secured at Middlesborough's Riverside Stadium for Gateshead who gained victory against Ebbsfleet.

Newport lost 3-0 at Grimsby Town, knowing they had their play-off place booked.

Lincoln City ensured they stayed up with a 5-1 win at Hyde United, Vadaine Oliver scored a second-half hat-trick.
Woking beat Tamworth 2-1 and Luton Town gained victory at Southport with a 3-1 win.
