Saturday’s 2-1 loss at AFC Telford ended a great run which had seen the Minstermen go unbeaten since being thrashed by Kidderminster on September 15.
They go to Spennymoor tonight - a side who have been formidable at home for a number of years.
York sit ninth while the Moors are fifth and Collins accepts it’s not the ideal fixture to have to put right an under-par weekend performance.
“It’s going to be another very difficult challenge,” he said.
“We have got to learn quickly from what happened on Saturday. We let them back in because we stopped playing our football.
“We were hit by a late sucker punch and it hurt us. We need to pick ourselves back up now but it’s a tough place to go and get a good result.”
York have been much improved under Collins’ stewardship and he challenged his team to demonstrate how far they have come by putting on a show in the North East.
Spennymoor manager Jason Ainsley will have captain James Curtis available again.
