No Old Pals’ Act As Bradbury And Bryan Meet 20 Years On

Lee Bradbury knows he and former team-mate Bryan Hughes won’t be expecting any favours from each other this weekend.

Havant & Waterlooville host title chasing Wrexham with the Hawks sitting fourth in the form guide.

New Red Dragons boss Hughes played with Bradbury at Birmingham City in 1999 and 20 years on they come up against each other on the touchline.

“He was an excellent player,” Bradbury said. “It will be good to test myself against him as a manager this weekend.

“We’re just delighted that we’re welcoming clubs the size of Wrexham. It’s a big thing for us.

“Having only just come up to be taking on the Leyton Orients and Chesterfields of this world shows how far we’ve come.

“Bryan will have his team well organised and we know how difficult it’s going to be to get a result.

“We see the match as a great chance to show everyone how far we have come as a club in a couple of years.”

Havant sit just one point outside the bottom four and Bradbury knows every match is massive from here on in.

“It’s a crucial stage of the season,” he said. “But we’ve become hard to beat and that’s a great sign.”
