New Lease Will Help Gate Move Forward

Margate chairman Bob Laslett insists that the future is bright the Vanarama National League South club...

...after hosting a Fans Forum at Hartsdown Park on Thursday night.

Laslett and the Board of the Directors invited fans to pose their questions to the Board with the agenda covering four subjects of first-team, stadium developments, community and youth.

Over 75 supporters attended the evening which saw Laslett confirm that the club has now agreed in principle a 25-year lease with Thanet District Council to stay at Hartsdown Park.

“I have been here now for two years and we have had our ups and downs but this lease agreement will now allow us to move the club on to the next level.”

Chief executive Chris Pope says that the future is exciting for Margate Football Club but it does need the support of the local area.

“We will continue to work hard for the supporters of this football club. We need everyone to get behind us and support our projects both on and off the pitch.”

The Blues return to league action tomorrow when the Gate travel to leaders Ebbsfleet United looking to keep their recent upturn in form intact under Boss Nikki Bull.
