New Guiseley Chairman Douglas Targeting Stability

By Steven Coney

Gary Douglas has been named the new chairman of Guiseley as the Lions look to bounce back from relegation.

James Ferguson, who replaced long-serving Phil Rogerson, stepped down from the role in April after nine months in charge.

Guiseley were relegated from the National League after a difficult season on the pitch and Douglas has been chosen as the man to help guide the club forward.

The Lions concede that some ‘difficult decisions’ need to be made for the club to progress and their new permanent management team will be announced in the coming days.

“Following a meeting of the Guiseley AFC Board of Directors, the Club is delighted to announce that Gary Douglas has agreed to take over the role of Chairman of the Club, with input from other Board Colleagues,” a statement read.

“Following the Club’s relegation from the National League to National League North, Gary will oversee a process to ensure a stable future for the Club, developing a Business Model to underpin the process.

“Some difficult decisions will need to be made to achieve stability and ensure future progress, however the Board is confident that developing both the Business Model and continuing to improve infrastructure is the right way forward for the Club.”
