New Boss Beech Says Fylde Are Sure To Turn Things Around

Chris Beech may have been in charge of AFC Fylde since October, but he knows there’s no time to lose after officially taking over.

The 49-year-old has been in temporary charge of the Coasters since Adam Murray was fired eleven weeks ago.

Despite sitting bottom, he feels the team will “definitely” turn things around if they keep believing and hinted that reinforcements could be on the way.

Fylde went down 2-0 at Rochdale on Boxing Day and now haven’t won since beating Oldham Athletic 3-0 before the clocks went back.

They now have two home games - the reverse match against Dale on New Year’s Day and the visit of out-of-form Hartlepool United - and Beech knows the importance of starting 2024 well.

“Look in the mirror and don’t hide from where we’re at, we’ve got to respect what it is - it’s about honesty and hard work,” he told his players after Tuesday’s defeat.

“We’ve got to keep believing and if we do, it will definitely turn around.

“No doubt we’ll be able to support the squad with some new faces. I’m really pleased with the group and their efforts, but it hurts at the moment.”

Announcing Beech will continue in the dugout, Fylde owner David Haythornthwaite said: “I’m delighted to give Chris this extended opportunity. We’re going to work closely together to ensure we’re playing football in this division next year.”
