National League South: Complete Weekend Preview

By Sam Elliott

Put aside the FA Trophy and keep the FA Cup quiet until next weekend, it’s full focus on the National League South on Saturday.

There’s plenty of distractions right now, and that’s before you think about starting the Christmas shopping!

Don’t get your priorities wrong - there’s a brilliant promotion race going on right now, so where did we leave things?

Weston-super-Mare are sitting pretty and now have not only a three-point advantage, but a game in hand.

Scott Bartlett’s team are at home to Farnborough, who left this fixtures last March with a fantastic 3-0 win despite travel chaos.

Truro City sit in second and won’t want to slip up at home to an on-song Chesham United, with their striker Nathan Minhas in form and sure to be a marked man.

Bath City began life without Jerry Gill frustrated, a very late penalty against Maidstone United denying them all three points on Tuesday. Eastbourne Borough, another promotion challenger, stand in their way on Saturday.

Both Boreham Wood and Torquay United have shown in the transfer market lately that they’re both desperate to go up. Who will inflict some damage in Hertfordshire?

Enfield Town have taken one point from a possible 15 and could do without a tough trip to Dorking Wanderers.

Worthing and Chelmsford City perhaps expected to be in the top seven by this point and play for three important pre-Christmas points.

St Albans City won’t be able to escape the bottom four this weekend but a win over Chippenham Town will push them closer.

It’s the same story for Weymouth as they go to Hornchurch while Hemel Hempstead badly need to end their slide down the table - the former leaders are at Tonbridge Angels after eight defeats in nine.

Welling United’s form is not good either and the Wings won’t want to know that Slough Town are superb at home.

Elsewhere, Hampton & RB host Aveley and Salisbury face Maidstone United who tackle another long trip.
