National League South: Complete Weekend Preview

By Sam Elliott

The National League South is back - but who’s going to carry on where they left off?

You won’t hear Hemel Hempstead Town manager Bobby Wilkinson saying his team can at least concentrate on winning promotion now.

He was far from impressed after bowing out of the famous competition to Bishop’s Stortford but they can repair some of the damage by beating Farnborough. A draw is enough to keep the leaders top of the division.

Eastbourne Borough are sitting just behind them with four wins from five in the league. They are out of the FA Cup too and want to make amends by defeating Slough Town at Priory Lane.

Luke Garrard, pictured, makes his emotional Boreham Wood homecoming.

He is back months after ending his love affair back in April but will get no favours from Welling United and Rod Stinger, who just want their away form to be something like their home.

Tonbridge Angels are loving life sat in third and will fancy their chances of more points at home to Hampton & RB.

Dorking Wanderers badly need a result after a torrid few weeks. Marc White could have done without a treacherous trip to Weston-super-Mare on Saturday.

Weymouth have points and goals on the board at last - they want more of both at home to Worthing.

Maidstone United need to start climbing but what may have appeared an attractive game against Chesham isn’t - their visitors are just outside the play-offs and know where the net is.

St Albans City are showing signs of improvement but they take on a wounded Torquay United following their high profile FA Cup calamity at Bishops Cleeve last Saturday.

Truro City manager John Askey knows his side are capable of big things this year and a win at Aveley could move them into a promotion place.

Chelmsford City are feeling better about their chances, they are at Hornchurch while Bath City fans know they need to beat Enfield Town, who have registered three points from their eight games.

It’s early days but Salisbury and Chippenham are perched just above the bottom four, rendering their meeting at the Ray Mac rather important even in September.
