National League South: Complete Weekend Preview

By Sam Elliott

It’s the final National League South matches for a few weeks - so who is going to really make it count?

With the FA Cup taking centre-stage next weekend and some quiet midweeks to come, it’s a golden opportunity to go into the break for the battle for points on a high.

Sometimes it takes just one result to get a season going, and Chelmsford City think they secured one on Tuesday night.

Going to Maidstone United and scoring five times, Robbie Simpson and his team showed everyone that they won’t let a rotten first month derail their ambitions. But next it’s Bath City, who superbly gunned down in-form Truro City on the same night.

The Stones need a reaction and George Elokobi knows a win at Enfield Town is desperately needed with the bottom four just under them.

Bobby Wilkinson and Hemel Hempstead wish the season would end now. They sit top and there’s a huge game coming as the side they deposed on Monday pay a visit - Slough Town want first place back!

Weston-super-Mare just want the games to keep on coming. The Rebels loss there in midweek was the Seagulls’ fifth win in a row. Troubled St Albans City now sit in their eye-line in Hertfordshire.

Weymouth are one of the other sides who have endured a dreadful first few weeks. It’s seven games, seven losses. They haven’t even scored yet but Terras fans hope the tide can start to turn when they travel to Dorking Wanderers

Aveley stunned Marc White’s promotion hopefuls on Monday - can they climb out of the early bottom four by beating Chesham United, who moved happily into the top half a few days ago.

Chippenham Town hope for a better start tomorrow when they face Tonbridge Angels. Torquay United blitzed them in the first half an hour and Paul Wotton was pleased his players could save their legs for this weekend’s demanding visit to Welling United.

Boreham Wood need to bounce back after a poor few weeks and travel to a Hampton & RB side buoyed by their first three-point return at Weymouth.

Elsewhere Farnborough welcome Salisbury, Truro City look for a response ant home to Eastbourne Borough and resurgent Worthing host Hornchurch at the Sussex Transport Community Stadium.
