National League North: Complete Weekend Preview

By Sam Elliott

It’s safe to say it hasn't been a good few day for the Vanarama National League North’s title chasers.

So what will Saturday bring after the perfect illustration of why this division is so tough to call this season.

Four of the teams at the top lost in midweek so it’s as you were as we dive into an important weekend.

There was no significant damage done but Scunthorpe United fans know their side can’t have too many off nights like that.

Now they host now-fifth Buxton, who are great at home but haven’t quite matched up on their travels.

After blowing the chance to go top on Tuesday after defeat at home to Farsley Celtic, King’s Lynn Town try again at South Shields, who go in well rested and on the back of a 3-0 win at Warrington.

Chorley got things wrong at Marine in midweek and face an awkward game against Leamington.

Curzon Ashton couldn't take advantage of those above them losing as Kidderminster Harriers defeated the Nash on Wednesday. Now they face a tricky trip to Spennymoor Town.

Southport want to make the most of being one of the few sides to have a night off. They enjoyed seeing those above them drop points - but not Saturday’s opponents Peterborough Sports’ brilliant win over Alfreton Town.

There’s a big meeting of two of the sides in the bottom four. Radcliffe are up and running after a torrid first two months and face Rushall Olympic, who now look up at everyone else and are winless in five.

They drew with Needham Market in midweek, whose form is more of a concern. Taking two points from a possible 18, they need a boost at home to Chester.

Oxford City are on the march under returning manager Ross Jenkins. After three away wins on the spin, can they treat the home fans to three points against Scarborough Athletic?

Brackley and Darlington both have 21 points on the board and meet in Northants.

Marine hope a stellar showing against Chorley can inspire them at Hereford while Warrington face Alfreton and Farsley Celtic look for another brilliant win on the road at Kidderminster Harriers.
