National League Football Academy Cup Launches

The National League Football Academy Cup gets underway this afternoon.

The Competition comprises of 29 Clubs, all battling it out to become the first winners of the inaugural tournament.

Matches are to be played at the first-team stadium of each Club participating.

Round One is regionalised between the North and South, with Guseley, Darlington and Hampton & Richmond Borough receiving byes to Round Two.

In today’s fixtures in the Southern section, Bromley- a side with a 100% winning record so far this season- host Eastleigh, whilst Chippenham Town entertain Welling United.

In the North section of the Competition, Chester welcome Hartlepool United to the Deva Stadium, with both sides having had a bright start to the League campaign.

The 2019/20 National League Football Academy is formed of two regional divisions, with twelve Clubs in the South and ten in the North.

Speaking at the time of Club License confirmation, Head of Player Development, Gary Owers, said: “The National League and National League Youth Alliance is committed to Youth Development.

"As part of our ongoing strategic approach we have implemented a scheme for Clubs to demonstrate their own commitment to raising and maintaining standards in this area.

“The aim of a National League Football Academy is to provide an environment and player pathway which allows Clubs to develop and produce more and better home grown players”.
