More To Come From Table-Topping Taunton: Dray

Rob Dray watched his Taunton Town hit top spot in the National League South on Saturday and then urged his players to give the bookies a bashing!

The Peacocks boss warned the rest of the division that there’s plenty more to come after a 2-1 win over Eastbourne Borough took them ahead of Bath City.

Manager Dray had a little peek at the title odds before the slimmed down weekend programme, knowing three points would see them take over the leadership.

He says that he’s happy to go under the radar and sees no reason why his team can’t keep catching everyone by surprise.

He said: “It was a massive effort, but I still think there’s more to come from us. I still think we can go up a gear. We were outstanding in the first half and had to dig in after our second goal.

“We played a full-time team who have massive aspirations, the second full-time side we’ve had down here in a few weeks.

“It’s all about moments in football, and we’re currently having one, - it’s much nicer to be top than down at the other end!

“But as I said, we can be better,” he told the club’s YouTube channel. “These players chuck the lot at it. There’s no bad eggs here, they’re all great characters. It’s massive for Taunton to be top, massive for the town.

“We’ll enjoy the moment. We can all have a little look at FlashScores and see us top. I think we’re exceeding expectations. We were fourth favorites to go down at the start of the season and even on Saturday morning we were 25/1 to win it.”
