Meet Your August National League South Award Winners!

By Sam Elliott

It’s time to start dishing out the awards again and there are some very worthy National League South winners.

Manchester United had some extra support recently in a certain part of Kent.

Arsenal’s defeat at Old Trafford meant Ebbsfleet United were the last team standing in the top six tiers of English football to win all of their matches this season.

After going so close to promotion last May, it seems head coach Dennis Kutrieb took that play-off defeat personally.

His players already look seriously tuned in and even when they fell behind they recovered - and earned their boss the Manager of the Month award.

August wins over Chippenham, Weymouth, Eastbourne Borough, Farnborough, Concord Rangers and Dover made it six from six.

Now the question is how long can the Fleet remain flawless!

Things would look even rosier for the German if it wasn’t for those perky Hawks!

Ebbsfleet haven’t got a healthy lead and that’s all down to Havant & Waterlooville and their awesome August displays.

Key to that has been the form of midfield man Jake McCarthy.

Scoring the winners against Farnborough and Slough, without his goals Paul Doswell’s team would be four points worse off.

Useful in both boxes, he keeps things tight in the middle of the park while also contributing with some vital goals - the all-rounder has fans hoping for a big promotion push this time around.

The Vanarama Volunteer of Month award allows us the opportunity to give deserved recognition to those who go beyond and above the call of duty.

They do it for the love of the game and, of course, for their club.

Kevin Dyer is Farnborough’s Mr Fantastic and although he holds the Vice Chairman title, and is listed as the clubs’ stadium manager on their website, he is 100 per cent a volunteer - and wouldn’t have it any other way.

Helping with pitch maintenance and preparation, the club say they have the straightest white lines in Non-League football!

Boro also tell us his work is more remarkable because he only has one hip.

He is known as Super Kev for a good reason - and he doesn’t plan on stopping being the Farnborough hero any time soon.

Congratulations to all our fantastic winners!
