McGleish Steps Up

By Steve Whitney

Gordon Bartlett, manager of Vanarama National League South club Wealdstone, has reported....

....that his new-look squad had their first training session on Saturday and he was delighted with the session that also included
several invited triallists.

It is confirmed that defenders Tom Cadmore and Jack Smith have re-signed together with Johnny Wright and Elliott Godfrey.

It is also announced that long-standing assistant-manager Leo Morris has stepped down from that role as he has decided to concentrate on his Ruislip Social Club management responsibilities.

Player-coach Scott McGleish (pictured) has been appointed to replace Morris.

Bartlett said: “Leo will still be a very important part of the club but after a twenty-nine-year working relationship, it's certainly going to be strange without him by my side. I cannot praise him highly enough for everything he has done over our many years together and he has been a major reason for the success we have achieved. Leo is not only a great footballing man who always speaks honestly, he is totally trustworthy and a man of integrity.”

The Wealdstone manager continued: “People have likened our partnership to a marriage but I disagree - we've never had an argument!”
