By Steve Whitney

Vanarama National League South club Margate have announced the signing of Matthias Fanimo after his release from National League side Eastleigh.

The 22-year-old started his career at West Ham United where he made one first-team appearance in the Hammers 2-0 victory over Crewe Alexandra in the Capital One Cup.

After being released from West Ham, Fanimo spent some time at Tranmere Rovers but only made one appearance in a 1-0 away defeat to Carlisle.

The rapid winger spent some time at Bishop`s Stortford before spending last season at Eastleigh but once again found game time hard to come by and was released by the Spitfires at the end of the season.

While at West Ham Academy Fanimo equalled Antonio Valencia as the fastest footballer in the world, 0.2 seconds quicker than Gareth Bale and 0.5 seconds quicker than Cristiano Ronaldo.

Fanimo also has represented England at under-16, under-17 and under-18 level making his under-18s debut against Slovakia in 2011.
