Many Targets Are Hit On A Night For The Sharp Shooters!

By Sam Elliott

All eyes were on the prize tonight as the clock ticks down on the National League season.

There were targets hit on a busy evening as some secured play-off spots while there were some twists and turns down the bottom ends too.

Four National League games survived but Wealdstone are anything but secure - they threw away the lead to Southend United to give the teams below them real hope. A great strike from Cav Miley proved to be the difference in a 2-1 win.

Solihull Moors are surely in the play-offs - Tyrese Shade scored twice as Andy Whing’s men won 3-0 against Ebbsfleet United.

The second vs third game ended level. Bromley took a point home from Barnet when Louis Dennis levelled after Idris Kanu put the hosts had.

Maidenhead United can plan for another National League season - Casey Pettit, Sam Beckwith and Shaun McCoulsky all hit the target as the Magpies sent Hartlepool United on the long trip home beaten 3-1.

Worthing confirmed their National League South play-off place with a 2-1 turn-around win at Dartford - Kane Willis the match winner at Princes Park. Taunton Town picked up a brave point at Braintree.

Bath City could afford to miss an early penalty as they still won 1-0 at Hampton & RB. Ephraim Yeboah struck after 61 minutes to lift them above the Beavers, who now haven’t won in six games.

Sam Corne’s early double did for Weymouth as Maidstone United look sure for the top seven as a very late Reuben Reid penalty claimed victory for Weston-super-Mare at home to Chippenham Town.

In the National League North, King’s Lynn Town damaged Chorley’s top three chances - Kyle McFadden hit the winner.

Owen Oseni helped himself to two goals as Rushall Olympic move further away from trouble with a 4-0 win against Bishop’s Stortford. Farsley Celtic still sit in the bottom four - Dan Jarvis was the difference against Peterborough Sports.

Jordan Thewlis scored twice as Alfreton Town eased past relegated Gloucester City.
