Let's Get The Show On The Road! FA Cup Adventures Begin

By Sam Elliott

National League interest in the FA Cup is revived this weekend - so who will begin their journey to big things, and which clubs will tumble at the first fence?

It’s the second qualifying round with league battles on hold on Saturday but although the challenge for points is paused, some clubs can’t escape one another.

There's a big all-National League North tie as leaders Brackley Town face promotion rivals Scunthorpe United at Glanford Park.

That’s not all - Farsley Celtic go up against Scarborough Athletic and Warrington Town meet Curzon Ashton. Dartford also cross swords with old foes Welling United and there’s a coastal collision as Eastbourne Borough come up against Worthing.

But the FA Cup is famed of course for lower ranked sides hosting high level opposition and there’s plenty of corkers lined up.

National League South leaders City take on Larkhall Athletic while Canvey Island welcome Braintree Town. Macclesfield meet in-form Buxton and Chelmsford City go to Ware looking to avoid becoming a story - they’re usually the ones creating upsets!

Maidstone United know Southern Combination Steyning Town will be well up for creating the weekend’s biggest headline. Southport’s revival will count for little if Morpeth Town show them up on Saturday.

Chester have a challenging tie at Tadcaster Albion as Torquay United go to Wimborne knowing they need to be totally switched on.

Two sides with FA Cup history meet - Bracknell Town play Havant & Waterlooville as
Hayes & Yeading United host Slough Town with the Rebels hoping to build on their big improvement.

A win in the second qualifying round will be worth £3,375, the FA have confirmed.
