By Sam Elliott

Chester have turned to Salford City’s promotion specialists as they look to return to the National League.

Anthony Johnson and Bernard Morley are the new managers at the Blues.

The pair left Salford in a surprise twist despite having just taken them to the National League North title.

They fill the void left by Marcus Bignot, who departing Chester in April.

The club were relegated after a difficult season on and off the pitch which saw them forced to cut their budget.

Morley said the prospect of returning the club back to the top tier of Non-League football appealed to the pair.

He said: “We are an ambitious management team and whilst we know there are challenges ahead, we would not have taken the job if we didn't believe that we could get the club into a position of challenging for promotion."
